    TD5 head torx bolt/socket

I've read the Torx head bolts are size 14 and have been looking everywhere for at least a 1/2" square drive socket. The only one I've found is in a set with 3/8" drive for Torx 14.

Does anyone know where an appropriate (1/2" min drive) socket can be found? Hopefully sold individually because it's certainly a special need item for me.

    I don't know about the Td5 requirements however T14 is small.... my T14 is a 1/4" drive.

As I have a 1/2" drive set I have purchased adaptors to suit 1/2 to 3/8 and 3/8 to 1/4.

I also have a set of torx that are like allan keys.

I just checked mine - my 14 is certainly 3/8 drive. I would have thought that a 1/2" dive would be too large for a 14. However as suggested an adaptor could be used or even just buy a 3/8 rachet.

I assume you have tried Fisher Discounts and Gasweld in Fyshwick - also Motor Spares in Fyshwick have a lot of gear.

The torx socket is to undo the TD5 head bolts. The advice at this link TD5 Head bolts questions - Land Rover Zone says a Torx 14 socket is required. I agree they look pretty small but surely for a head bolt it would need to be 1/2" drive minimum.

Thanks Garrycol. Both Fisher and Gasweld are closed today - will probably try them tomorrow but don't feel optomistic. Supercheap has the 3/8" drive set. I looked up Sidchrome and Blackwoods but they don't list anything either ...

    It's an E14 (external) not a T14 (internal)

That's a different kettle of fish.

I bought a Force 4157 socket set to do my head bolts. It is a small set of 1/2" drive torx sockets and bits.
I bought it from TradeTools here in Qld.

I think you will find Blackwoods sell these under their own JBS brand - life time guarantee they say.
