    ARB Air pump

Have 10 year old pump fitted and want to fit storage tank. Trying to get any advice on size of tank that others may use and any additional advice. Re volume, pressure ie use standard, factory setting.

    Thanks

There's probably a huge variety of tanks that have been used for this purpose.
I used an old (empty) fire extinguisher. It's probably about 4-5 litres, but I didn't want anything too big and this one tucks up nicely behind an outrigger. It was also safe to weld brackets to after the valve was removed. I run an Endless Air into it. It is good to have a tank, especially if you need a blast of air, eg blowing dust out of parts during an on trip repair etc etc etc.
I have a pressure switch from an old ARB compressor that kicks in at 80psi and cuts out at 110psi, that's plenty. I'm not sure what the new ARB switches are set to, but AFAIK you can buy them as a separate item. They might even be adjustable ????

Primary air tanks from Jap light trucks secondhand range in size from 2-10L volume, Rangie EAS tank.
A simple mechanical hi/lo pressure switch to control the pump can be had cheap.
    Lots of options available.

    Cheers

The EAS rangie tank is a great option as it is the correct shape to fit along a RRC chassis rail, is rated to 200PSI , has a 150PSI pressure switch fitted, so has a boss and has an outlet on the end.

All you need is some large rivnuts into the chassis and to make up a couple of right angle brackets.

Nylon air hose is available from Pirtek as are the push on connectors.

My supposedly 150PSI Chinese pump struggles over 110PSI so I am currently looking for a 200PSI pump. Your ARB will probably struggle over about 110PSI, so I would replace the 150PSI switch with either the switch on the compressor if it has one or a lower pressure switch.

PhillipA has sort of stolen my thunder but from where I sit, the ARB compressor would struggle to keep a decent pressure in a tank due to the fact that it actually doesn't pump much volume. By this I mean that yes, when the tank is pressurised you will get a decent burst of highly compressed air, but it will only last a few seconds. You'll then be waiting for the pump.
