    TM2 Engine Temp Monitor - 3.5V8

I am installing a TM2 engine temp monitor in my 101 (3.5 V8). The sensor needs to go under a bolt head on the block or head away from the thermostat. The only bolts I can find are the ones that hold down the inlet manifold and the only ones with easy access are those at the ends where coolant goes into the heads from the manifold.

So where have people with the TM2 connected the sensor on their V8s?

    Thanks

I put mine on the inlet manifold bolt on the left hand side.
I had it under the thermostat bolt but the heat soak is pretty fierce.
Seems to be OK with the temp usually around 74 degrees but up to 85 on a hot day. (Pilbara hot)

I was thinking about installing another temp gauge, but I think I'll get one of these instead. You can't go wrong with a digital dispaly + the audible alarm is awesome. Can you adjust the temp that the alarm goes off, or is it preset? What temp is considered high? and what temp is damaging?

    cheers

However the instructions say specifically not to put them on the thermostat bolt. The reason being that if there is catastrophic coolant loss the thermostat housing takes on the outside temp (as does a coolant temp gauge) and does not get hot like the now overheating engine. The aim of the TM2 is to show engine temperature not coolant temperature.

You can set the alarm - basically drive around and get the engine hot and note the temperature on the display - you then set the alarm for about 10 degrees hotter.
