The idea of a high stall to remove lag is a good idea, in principle, but it will increase trans temps when working it at stop start and off rad driving, and will annoy the heck out of you eventually. I would leave the TC well alone, and fit a VNT turbo to it. I have just done one in a D1 auto, (Admittedly it has a low stall converter, 1.4:1 Defender high range, 32" tyres and twin tru tracks) but it has transformed the vehicle. Almost no lag and can break traction WITH the front tru trac on bitumen on a corner, from standstill
. This vehicle will be even more wild with the standard TC refitted. It also has a 3rd gear lock up mod which works really well.
