Thread: 2001 Transfer Case CDL

Hi Guys,
I am about to transplant a 2001 TC into my 2000 Disco. I recently had the 2000 TC case rebuilt but now whines so badly it's coming out.
I will unbolt CDL off the old TC and bolt onto the 2001 case.
Are there any "watch its" I should be aware of.

Thanks for the replies. To answer the questions,
the rebuild was done by a transmission specialist. I believe that the pretension is a bit tight and that is causing the whining, but of cause he vows it's not. I do have the skill and the tools to do a job like that but NO time at the moment!

I will get a RAVE CD as the older she gets the more problems will occur I'm sure. Thanks for that advice

The guy that rebuilt the TC said he will take it and reuse the gears in rebuilds and refund the cost of gears plus cost of a case. He is also going to put the 2001 TC in free of charge.

The CDL sits in it's own bolt on case at the front of the TC.
The early 2000 TC's have the CDL gear but no linkage is connected to the actuator. That is available and a relatively easy fit.
I don't foresee any problems with the changeover of CDL case. The RAVE CD may give some hints.
