If I had a torque wrench(+ angle gauge) I'd have had a shot, but with the gas injection as well--
besides most of it will be covered under warranty.
Heads are ok, still hard and hold fluid, no signs of any gas problems on the valves or piston crowns,

    late edit:
no angle gauge needed with studs--

The sticky is the advice straight from TRS,,
There is a notation on the box itself that states
"To suit 215 Buick or Rover V8"

it would appear all the different V8 heads are the same height??
    Hi ,

makes little difference but the number of studs will give an idea , if you`ve got 28 studs then 14 bolt heads/block as with 3.5 and early 3.9 rover .
If you`ve got 20 studs they may have kept 8 and just sent the relevant ones .

The heads with their correct gasket will give an overall similar height .
The 10 bolt heads ( as yours ) are thinner than the 14 bolt heads but the 10 bolt uses thicker gasket than the 14 bolt .

It`s possible to raise or lower comp ratios a little by missmatching .

    cheers

    Well hows this,,
almost exactly two years and another head gasket.
This time it has two slipped liners as well.
Its in at British off Road patiently waiting for a 4.6 short motor from Turners UK to arrive.
Interestingly the mechanic that pulled it down said the studs were "not exactly finger tight". and when I quoted the 65lb setting from TRS said they use "more like 90".
    interesting.

As I have a short break while things fly in--
I have been doing a bit of reading(not sure I'd call it research) about flat tappets and new cams.
It appears (to me) that my HPR10 is ok,, even meets the merc MB229 rating so beloved by our own Zedcars,
But the 20-30 minutes at 3grand to break-in the cam has me concerned,,
Lucas ( no,, not THAT Lucas) make an oil specifically for flat tappet cam break-in,, and is good for the next 1K kilometres on the road.
Engine Assembly Lubricants & Break in Oils

Have emailed them on a supplier on the Sunshine Coast,, no mention of $$ yet.
