I replaced my H4's with Philips plus 80 upgrade globes. same wattage as standard. and 20 meters more distance on high beam. Cheaper than spotties.
your thoughts please on fitting another set of head lights instead of spoties or driving lights.
My experience with spot and driving lights is you spend a lot of money for little use. Yes they are good, but ofter when I put them on someone comes the other way so the benefit is short lived.
I have been thinking of fitting if possible and legal, a second set of 55/100 head lights. i think the extra illumination on low beam and high would much better suit my driving.
What do thing, worthy?

Definitely upgrade to high efficiency globes first. I am running Osram plus 90's: great lights. Also fully legal, fast fit and low cost. Avoid high power halogens, they are a waste of time unless your wiring is upgraded and they add more alternator load.
I have Narva artic blue H4's in there as replacements already, no idea if they are similar quality as mentioned below, but at $50 I guess they should be.
I should have also made it clear I am not dissatisfied with the current illumination. Just thinking if I doubled up on standard lighting so to speak would you get double the effect, but not blind on coming traffic on low beam.

Jason, Traxide do a headlamp upgrade kit for these, Tim AKA Drivesafe here on AULRO is the contact. His website has the info you are after. I have fitted heaps and even leaving the 60/55 globes the difference is excellent, no more volt drop and melting headlamp switches. I ran 130/90 globes in mine and was very happy apart from the life span of the high wattage globesNow back to 100/90 and the lighting is excellent.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
Hi Jason, first off I’m not trying to plug my gear but have tried a wiring upgrade.
Ask the opinion of others but usually, increasing the headlight globe wattage can actually be counter productive in that the increased wattage means a decrease in voltage at the globes so that most of the additional light power has been nullified because of the voltage drop.
In EVERY case, the improvement in light power is quite noticeable, even when still running the original globes.
But as above, ask for the opinion of others who have already installed a wiring upgrade.
Ha! Tim your should be plugging it as it is good stuff!
Nuehue, as I said I have fitted quite a few of Tims kits to Discos and Defenders, and the results are very good. Search on AULRO for headlamp upgrade as keywords.
The Puma STILL has no headlamp relay, so it will benefit greatly.

Hi Jason
I fitted a Traxide relay kit to my Puma 130. Both main headlights and extra driving lights.
With the standard globes fitted the results were extraordinary.
There is a bracket in front of the cab air intake on the leaf side where you can mount the relay.
Depending on your driving you may choose not to install driving lights

Those high intensity blue lights have a drawback. That particular blue- like a sodium vapour lamp is the worst colour light for keeping your night vision. If you're in and out of your vehicle opening farm gates or trying to find the rabbit you just shot you're going to have some trouble. Red is the best colour for keeping night vision which is why military torches and maplights all have red filters.
Also, if you are using your mobile phone at night a lot and need to be on the hop at a moments notice you should create or download a red and black theme to retain your night vision.
