bad luck it will not meet the emission standards that a D2 is meant to

Any of the LS GM V8 will probably do the trick. See if Marks adapters has anything, although I hear that they are not interested unless it is toyo or nissan

The LS7 has 330lb/ft at 1000 rpm! (thats about 70lb/ft more than the 4.0RV8 at peak!) rising to 470lb/ft at 4800, and even about 370lb/ft at the limiter

The Tremec can be had in all number of ratios and shifter positions, and the LT is already there, and capable of running it.

Would be a pretty awesome set up!
Have a look at the following web sites. Both are accustomed to shipping economically to Australia.

I'm hearing ya,instead of just fitting a replacement engine for reasonable cost and a few days of the road the best idea is to spend three times what the vehicles worth doing a full engineering conversion so that it'll ''blow off'' some P platers at the lights. Pat

Any engine conversion on a v8 D2 would probably cost more than its worth, especially if you did it properly and tied it all together with the rest of the electronics, and it was engineered and legal.

Personally i think the cost of the engine would probably not be the biggest cost!

The best option by a million miles is to build a decent RV8, and bolt it straight back in.

350 chev? We have that in our boat and yes reliable it is.
Weight however is a big drawback and how to get emissions down.

A bit of rambling there mate.
We mostly all ben suggesting a re-uild of original to perhaps a 4.6 spec which would be un-noticeable from the outside and still be light enough over the front end.
It will certainly be easiest as all accessories just go back in.
Properly done will see another 3-400k km's.

The economics should be judged on whether you are planning a rebuild of a daily driver for the same purpose afterwards, or building up a hobby vehicle where cost and resale value are not part of the equation. In any case, if your RR is more than say 10 years old, it is not worth the cost of a properly done professional rebuild of the standard engine.

Indeed I agree Brian, but I am not the one moaning about costs.... In no way however would it be cheaper to swap a different engine properly into a D2 than it would be to rebuild the current one.

And for heavans sake, if you are going to do it, why would you fit a 350! They weigh 70kg more than the far far better LS series that replaced them!

Agree with both of you, it would be a love job really.

I once spend $12k on a rebuild with Haltech etc on a 88RRC and sold it for $9k, that is the whole car. If I had kept it I would have got my money's worth.

Each to their own I guess.
