    Best source for new or reco p/steering box

    The power steering box on my 1990 RR is cactus- leaks from every orifice and the pitman arm end of the sector shaft moves from side to side alarmingly- of course the car handles like an ocean liner.
    Can anyone advise me of a good source for a reco box- well priced and proven to last? Alternatively, a good price on a new unit? There's an eBay seller i've seen offering new boxes for around $750; anyone had experience of one of his units? I recall some talk of a US reconditioner who was making an improvement to the sector shaft bearing & seal- any info appreciated.

    thats a good price incl delivery, and more importantly if there is a warranty issue, they are 'local' not overseas. worth the extra$$$ imho.

    LR do a factory exchange box for around $540 retail.
    It's not really exchange though as they won't ask for your old steering box back.

    I'd still go new Pat, that 'E' on the end of the part number means exchange, IE 'factory rebuilt'.
    Still worth the extra $$ to go new IMO.

    Thanks for the heads up Pat.

    I'm hunting one down for my Disco 98 Tdi, and was considering ordering one from LRSeries.com

    They list a "genuine" Steering Box RHD 4 bolt type part no. STC8383E brand new for £349.99 or a brand new "OEM" "Adwest type" for £234 (plus freight of course). Now I'm confused as I thought Adwest was 'genuine'.

    So Pat, was yours 'genuine'?

    Also, the part number at Island 4x4 is listed on various sites as matching the LRseries.com part, and so my other question is, "did it come with a drop-arm?" ('cos I don't want one}
