Silencer I'd say. Even the Wastegate turbo will whistle if you remove silencers. Normally heard just above idle. Once you open it up other noises swamp the whistle or the whistle moves up in frequency range so that you can't hear it.
FOr those that have been around, you will be aware that over the last 6 months or so, I have been wrestling with a vnt in my D2. Happy to say that as of yesterday, it goes like a train!....
But now the exhaust "whistles" on boost.
I have a custom turbo back 2.75" system, catless, truck silencer in the middle, and another short silencer at the end. Apart from the whistle, it is very civil.
Im wondering whether the whistle indicates the system is creating a flow restriction for the VNT. Buy the same token, the 2.75" system wasnt cheap, and I dont want to just chuck money at a bigger system if what really needs to happen is just a change in silencers.

I'm running a 3" system with no mufflers. with my vnt
I do have a bolt in hot dog (20" i think).
It is very loud and makes a big screech noise like blow off valve when i back off which is very loud.
It does not really whistle like it did with the stock turbo
Def not boost or exhaust leaks?
I think you need to get a new exhaust. Ill take your old one and fit it to mine. just so its not cluttering up your place.
Mine whistles with standard turbo, main muffler removed. I like it that way.![]()
