    Rockrover76,
How you thought about modifying your centre diff to rear wheel drive but still locking into 4wd the same way. This eliminates the small spider gears on the cross shafts. It is very simple to do this. The large spider gear at hand brake side you weld this to the centre diff carrier. The front spider gear needs to be supported so it doesn't fall out. You weld a large washer to one of your cross shafts preventing the spider from fall out. I have done this and had no trouble. My rangie does drive better on the road with 33 inch tyres.

    regards Tebone

I recall that AVM in Brazil made a five bolt freewheel hub and Ashcroft in the UK a partime 4wd kit for LandRovers, but I hate the quality of AVM hubs. The AVM hub model number is 446.

Serg,All toyota and nissan hubs that I know about are 6 bolt flanged. If you can find a pair, it would be easier to plug two bolt holes and redrill a pair of the early all steel Selectro 24 spline LandRover hubs. They were the only fwhs I couldn't break, aside from the cam rings.

I haven't fitted freewheeling hubs but I have thought about it. Probably one positive is slightly better fuel economy. At the moment I am using 25ltr of lpg every 100kms ( straight gas) 33 inch tyres, supercharged 383 chev, turbo 700 adapted to lt230 transfer. Its not worth the expensive to put freewheeling hubs on, I have had no trouble with the front end yet. Converting to rear wheel drive does put more strain on the rear diff which I am currently upgrading to a 9 inch diff but with a standard engine you won't have any problems.
