transmission temperature
hi been reading the threads about transmission temperature switch, if the switch fails or reads wrong will it stop the car from starting if its reading as overheated. I ask because my 94 is doing this and after 20 to 40 minutes will start and run again. chris

AFAIK there is no connection. The trans temp gauge just lights up a bulb in the instruments in my 92 anyway.
I left replacing my sensor for several weeks until I got home from a big trip and never had a problem, other than being annoyed by the light.

I am no expert on this but look at the many threads about the ignition amplifier. They often fail when hot and would get hottest after heat soak.
AFAIK one test is to pour cold water over the amplifier and see if it starts. The amplifier is either on the side of the distributor or under the coil.
