Thread: Transmission locked in 3rd gear

Hi guys, sorry if this has been dealt with elsewhere, just had a helluva time searching for the issue.
I just drove down from Cairns to Brisbane last weekend. After waiting it out a bit in Yeppoon, as we all know the roads have been a bit touch and go lately. Anyhow, on that stretch between Mackay and Rocky 2 things happened; a bloody kangaroo jumped out in front of me and somehow managed to defy certain death (I don't have a roobar, so given the damage to the Disco it would have caused, if it wasn't dead I would have helped it manually... bloody stupid animal.. the road was almost empty, why do they wait for you to get close then decide to jump?)
Problem 2, all of a sudden the cruise control dropped out, the engine kind of spluttered then got going again with the "M" and the "S" lights on. Well if the 3 Amigos weren't enough I now had the bloody Sydney Harbour Bridge on New Years Eve for a Dash. I had experienced this before and the dealer replace a "sensor"...
When I finally limped into Yeppoon in "Get Home Mode", I was able to stop the vehicle and restart, thankfully clearing the issue and able to drive normally (Thank God, if you have seen some of the hills in Yeppoon, 3rd in a TD5 FULLY loaded would have been comical..)
Any Ideas guys?

that sensor would of been a inhibitor swtich, prity comen on d2s, in landrovers wisdom the ac drain is right ontop of the unit, and over time kills it with water,

if i remeber they are about 230$ and about 30mins to fit, ( on a cold car!!!),

dont be serprized if you take it in and they say can we have your car for the day, you will make our lives so much better
