    How to test wastegate modulator

Hi all, is there an easy method for me to test my D2's wastegate modulator?
And the adjustment of the wastegate actuator? Or should I just book it in for a lookover by someone with a bigger toolbox than me?

    Cheers

    Wil

Not sure on the Disco, but when I worked for an engine manufacturer, the truck engine wastegates were simply tested with a regulated air supply and a set of verniers. You need to know the specs for the wastegate you are testing - distance v pressure.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I don't really see the need for them, just bypass it, run a lenght of hose straight from the steel intercooler pipe to the wastegate (if you dont have any you can join two of the short peice that are already there using the white plasic elbow). one less thing to go wrong.

boost can be adjusted via the waste gate rod...

You will need a 8 or 10mm spanner and a pair of fine nose pliers. (I would also spray the lock nut with CRC/WD40 etc. Also holding the rod in place with a pair of vice grips would be recommended. (Stops it twisting when you try and undo the lock nut).

The less threads (shorter) the rod is the more boost it will allow.

Std boost is around 15ish psi.

I think over boost is 20-21ish.

I would give it a few turns then drive, repeat this until it hits over boost ( The car will fuel cut. You will feel it, it surges) Then turn it back Half a turn.

    Then enjoy
