D2A Diff Ratio and Axle Spline Recommendations?

    I have a D2A TD5, with VNT, soon with 550nm of torque.
I have a 2in lift, and will be running 32-33 in tyres M/T. Car is a tourer, with a camper trailer, not an extreme off road vehicle.
I am going to order and install Tru Tracs front and rear.

Id be hapy to hear recommendations on:

    a. Diff Ratio Change; required or not, and to what?
    b. Axle spline change; stay stock, or not?
    c. If not stock, then what parts do I need to acquire/change.

    TIA

If you run 32s, you won't need to change the ratios, but, if you run 33s or bigger and you want your standard gearing back, 4.11s is what most run, it's not a real concern running standard axles with TruTrax but if it were me I would upgrade to Longfields or Maxi axles, might even be a good idea to get the Ashcrofts heavy duty axle and CV kit, especially with all that torque.

All the heavy duty gear you would need is availible from Ashcrofts in the UK or whoever they deal with here, Rovacraft I think does Ashcrofts stuff, but as they are wholesalers now, you'll need to find out who their retail outlets are now.

I have an ABN so rovacraft is an option, but i seem to recall that LRA is Ashcrofts agent? What about changing the splines. Leave it as standard, or ?

Which splines are you talking about. With the Axles, CV's and 411's you are better off getting them from Lucky8 in the states, the dollar is great atm so you will get a good price. If I was you I'd fit the 4.11's with the truetracs, will save you a lot of effort.

    What Hendrik said X2

If you are fitting lockers you may as well go the whole 9 yards and fit 4.11's and run 33's. Dont stuff around with 32's

Lucky8 does the Ashcroft stuff cheaper than Ashcroft themselves due to the large number of D2s they deal with

You can also get gears from Bill at Great Basin Rovers in Utah. he is switched on and very helpful

You are really starting to open that can of worms. Money is really the only limiting factor so if you can afford it - do it!

My understanding, is that 2 inch lift, and no trimming, the max size that can be fitted, is 32". THis will open a can of worms again, I am sure.

For a tourer, I'd stick with 32" MTs and leave the diff ratios and axles alone.
It's a lot of expense to go to for just 1/2" extra clearance that you may never need.

If it were a serious off-roader though ... then I'd go with Hendrik's suggestion with bigger tyres to justify the expense.

    Im happy with 32".
I do want true tracs, and thought I might as well do the axles, and replace the crown and pinions whilst I was there. (Recommended replacement every 200k km, and Im up for 175k km.)

Change the axles and CW&P by all means, but don't go 4.11s if your only running 32s, you'll end up with too low a gearing, which is not good for touring.
