    Disco headlining

Hardlines asks: Has anyone got a DIY solution to glue-ing up sagging headlining in a Disco Series 2 Td5?

The hardest part would be removing and refitting the roof lining. Regluing the actual fabric or replacing the fabric is relatively easy once its out. Sorry I have no answer on removal specifically for a discovery, however you would normally need to remove or lower the front and rear seats to give you room to move, pull out all the plastic trims that hold the lining in place, disconnect the interior light, rear view mirror etc, all pretty basic to work out as you go, just remember to be gentle with plastic parts because they can be brittle from UV rays and will break if forced.

Once the lining is out, use a spray adhesive which works like a contact glue and restick the fabric, allow to dry and reinstall. If you want to go new fabric, just trim to size after it is glued. It is a big job but if you are patient will cost less than getting it done by a trimmer. You can do a dodgy quick fix by stitching through the fabric and into the card with a needle and thread but it doesn't really look good or last well.

Basically if you have some time to spare and have a couple of cans of spray glue you can do a pretty fair job, or look at pulling it out and taking to a trimmer to save the cost of the remove/refit which would be a couple of hours of labour. Good luck.

    I reiterate.

You will be wasting your time.

Search and see that's the general consensus. The foam backing breaks down so you cannot reglue it and have it look any good.

    Yes, yes and yes again.

It will last about a day or two.

I have half a can of spray adhesive leftover that I can donate to anyone who really wants to try it.

pinch some of the misses sewing pins, stick them in and this will GIVE YOU A TEMPORY HOLD.tidy it up and not have it dangling on your head.
Then when you get around to it pull it all off clean the powdery glue foam from it and spend as little a couple hundred bucks at a motor trimmer and it will n look as good as factory.
A search will show that it has been covered many times.

I can also add half a can. I had a quote of $150 if I removed it. If you have it removed why would you bother trying to glue it when it can be done properly for 150 bucks?

    Dave.
