Best way to clean a mouldy roof lining?

The roof lining in my County in in great nick, with the exception of the brown mould spots that are appearing all over. The roof lining is grey. If I give them a rub with my finger it seems to get rid of most of the spot, but it will just come back.

What's the best way to attack this? I was thinking a soft scrub brush and a vacuum cleaner to remove most of it then spraying it with something to try kill what's left, then another brush and vacuum a week later.

The problem has been getting steadily worse, and I haven't really noticed because I drive it every day, but today someone pointed it out to me Ignorance is bliss...

Go to your local camping shop and ask for a canvas or tent mould spray. About $10 for a small container. You do not want the combined water proofing type.

Use something like the household cleaner called "Domestos" (basically diluted bleach). The chlorine in it will kill the mould and brighten the roof lining as well.

The mould spray soulds like a good idea. I'll drop by the camping store.
I'm a bit worried about bleach as I may end up with a patchy roof lining if it bleaches it a bit.

Don't use bleach, you may indeed end up with a patchy roof and bleach isn't that effective anyway.
Use a mix of 80% white vinigar and 20% Metho.
Being a roof lining, be prepared that you may need to replace

I appreciate it's not mould but I found WD40 very effective in shifting a nasty grease stain from the kids' bikes from the headlining of our Disco - it smelled pretty good too!

I really don't want to replace it. Being a County and tot a Rangie, the lining is in very good nick apart from the mould and shows no sign of sagging of anything.

The best solution to mould that I have found is clove oil. A few drops in a spray bottle of water and the mould dissappears. It's not going to damage anything and it has a pleasant smell.
My Dad put me onto it when he had a mould/mildew problem on his pop-top caravan. I've since used it on the canvas awning on my car and our camping gear that was packed up damp.
