"as all the RRc with ZF autos had a Borg Warner viscous coupling transfer box"
No , wrong . only 89 onwards had the BorgWarner . 86 , 87 and 88's had the ZF mated to a LT230 .

OK guys forget everything I said.
Make any floor panel you want and fit anything you like!
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
I think we all know that, but surely you are not suggesting he buy a controller ECU for 2K or whatever.Nope, 4HP22's have a kickdown, 4HP22E doesn't.
Sent from my backyard TeePee using smoke signals.

The point I was making is that no carburetted 3.5 had a ZF2HP22 or 4HP22. Maybe a 3 speed kickdown mechanism could be used but I do not know whether the stroke is the same, and if not some fabrication would be needed.
It's these details that are the major pain, trust me.
BTW he could use a 2HP22 and LT230 from say an 88RRC if he only has a 3.5. This will have speedo cable etc etc and if he found a wreck he could also get the tunnel. It would also have an injected kickdown mechanism, which he could maybe utilise as an intermediate mechanism.

If yoiu find a donor tunnel you only need cut out the top squared section (leave enough flange) and weld it into place on yours. Get some of that marine grade engine bay heat/noise/foiled foam for the hole. Did one too many years ago. Used the kickdown mech off the efi adapted to the carb mech for same stroke.
Ok i should probably clarify this a bit.
The idea is to put an older holden 308 in to a 2 door rangie, Fitting the ZF only because i already have one laying around.
It sound to me no matter what way i go its going to require some serious cutting, So the question i have now is, does anyone have any experience cutting a 4 door down (bobtail/trayback).
Please PM if you do, I have lots of questions.
Cheers
Craig
Adapting the bell pattern, spacing the flex plate out and making the crank hub to do it and fitting the 308 are more daunting prospects than cutting the thing up.
I thought it was a 2 door? But you're cutting down a 4 door?
Whoa mate,
I think you guys may have got the wrong impression, I am not doing this because I already have a two door, and I am definitely not cutting up my 4 door.
This is all about me looking for a new project, pretty much trying to make a fast range rover.
Sorry if any body feels i mislead you guys, i am just doing the big hypothetical at the moment.
Cheers
Craig
