    jumpy clutch

    Hi All,

I am biggining to really hate driving my TDI130 The clutch(complete with fly wheel ) was replaced less than 10000km ago. At the time, when it was replaced it had an intermittant shudder, this was explained away as they all seem to have this this drama. Now 10000kn odd later its becoming standard with each pull off, only the severity of the shudder varies from slight to huge jumping. I thought perhaps it was a engine mount but they seem ok.

So now before it is taken off the road again, i would love to know what could cause this, i would assume a warped fly wheel wouls have caused a shudder from day one so i would say its not this. New master an slave have been put in as well as spigot bearing, and rebuilt gear box.

What could it be, please help!

    cheers
    Mal

I would check that the handbrake is not dragging at all. This could be due to maladjustment, a sticking actuator, broken spring, sticking cable, bad cable adjustment, incorrect assembly, loose backing plate, but most likely, oil contamination from a leaking seal.

If the handbrake is dragging, this, combined with the inevitable slack in the driveline, will give the effect you note, and it does not take much.

One from a little bit left field, my D2 had a varying shudder which was caused by a coolant leak finding its wasy back to the flywheel.

    Cheers.
