Hi Phillip, it's usually in fading light even though I has a 100watt spot light beaming into the engine bay, and it's when your tired and some one comes and distracts you that these little things going boing and get lost.
One thing I have to get used to is parking on a plastic tarp, I don't know how many times I have dropped or something has fallen on to my gravel driveway.
Try finding a dark screw or washer within a billion surrounding aggregate stones![]()

Unless you live in the Pilbara.Old magnet from a big speaker is very useful for that...
