help with head light fault needed

last night while at a stand still my head lights flickered then stoped working. I still have park lights when in the park light position and i can still use high beam. the fuses seem fine. so was hoping someone could give me an idea where to start looking for the problem. Was thinking a conection in the steering coloum but wasn't sure if there could be a relay or something else some where. any help would be great

I've had a similar issue on a Nissan GQ Patrol a couple of times. It was the actual switch contacts in the headlight stalk coming off the steering column. I took the switch unit apart and cleaned the contacts, spread the electric grease around a little and hey presto it worked again. No guarantee it's the same thing on a Land Rover but might be worth a check.
Another thing to check would be the earthing of the headlight circuit. A problem common to both lights could well be earthing related.
Best of luck chasing the electrons.

most likely the switch has melted itself...

you will need a replacement switch and I reccomend getting a relay upgrade kit, drivesafe (one of the members) sells it in kit form.
