    D2

    Hi,

Needing some opinions. Looking at buying 2004 d2 v8 but am concerned about fuel consumption. Also interested to find out about he centre diff lock. Do they have a switch or do you have to get one installed? I originally wanted a td5 but prices were high for what I was after. I am concerned about servicing costs and reliability. Can anyone help?

    Hi,

Anything with the later headlights will have the CDL standard, so you wont need to change anything.

We seem to average around 15.8l/100km (03 v8 manual)

Yes but with any vehicle... The main defining factors are.. Tyres, pressures and driver ability....

Thanks James, I used to own a d1 tdi years ago. It was a great truck. Great on the sand, I'm just wondering about the 18" wheels that come on the 04 d2 I'm looking at. I'm not sure if they will be any good, or should I buy some 16" rims for my weekend trips ?

I'm glad I finally got on to this forum, so many questions to ask.....

18s are fine on the beach (If i had the choice i would run 16s)they are a widder tyre to start with (255) most 16s are 235 unless thry are P38 rims which are 255 on 16s

just don't let them down too much as you dont have a big sidewall like the 16s.

As long as you remember that when you own a Land Rover there will be more Questions than Answers!....
