Sadly in my case, 84 rangie 4.4 leyland the odd knock onced warmed was a sleeve moving up and down, took the sump off pushed it back up and burred the alloy over a bit and off I'd go for a little while, did this a few time but eventually the sleeve came down too far and the ring popped over the edge and broke the top off the piston, in Cann River with the boat


It might be the cause but I didn't notice one on the old camshaft, which doesn't mean that it wasn't there!
