    Side panel protection rubber/ally plate

I picked up some 3mm ally plate sheets cut to fit the lower section of panels on the disco a while ago and was trying to come up with a good way to fix them to the body.

I was thinking about getting a sheet of 1.5mm rubber and glueing that to the panels some how then down the track riverting the ally plate through the rubber sheet onto the body, the idea being that the rubber would absorb alot of the vibrations.

I was also thinking I would make new lower rear quarter pannels out of flexible rubber sheet as I've chewed up the current ones pretty badly

Anyone got any ideas/thoughts on this process. Particularly the rubber sheeting as side panel protection (there is so many scratches and chips in the paint these days I'm not to concerned about that.

    Cheers
    Rob

I saw some metal adhesive on sale at Bunnings a while back ($5 a tube) which goes in a caulking gun. I bought a couple on the off chance I might need them (owning a series 3).

Something like this applied in conjunction with rivets would help hold it and stop the vibration as well. If you aren't worried about appearances and the fitting is to be permanent, this would be the best bet. I had planned to use it for wing top protectors on my series 3 but the jury's still out on whether I will end up fitting them.
