Black oil leaking/spewing in engine bay of 2008 MY07 Landrover Defender 110
Call me paranoid, boys, but upon checking the standard levels in preparation to hit the Blue Mountains this morning, I lifted the hood to be greeted by oil on the underside of the bonnet (my new 'second hand' Landy, purchased only a week ago, is white) and in the right hand side of the engine bay.
I've called Graeme Cooper to book in to have it looked at. The suspense is killing me as this was going to be my first trip bush in the machine.
Has anyone experienced/heard of this issue before?
Thanks in advance

I would have thought it'd be the vacuum pump but it's on the left side.
At least a major leak is easy to trace though.

Actually it is in the left hand side (passenger side). Apparently the vacuum pump was replaced by previous owner on recall... unless it's blown again.

That's the only thing that I know of that leaks badly in the engine bay.
If it's a 2007 model but sold in 2008, is it still under warranty?
Warranty is 3 years / 100000km (whichever comes first).

You nailed it with your diagnosis, Scott. Brake Vacuum Pump gasket. Thanks mate. Just picked it up from the workshop, all repairs covered by the Landrover network (purchased second-hand through a dealer and got some cover). Back on the road...
