    Checking CV on Disco

Ive got a knocking sound coming from the left front. It sounds like a worn shock mount but isn't. It only clunks from time to time.
Im fairly sure its the left CV ( as I have checked every other moving part ) but when Ive jacked it up, and turn the wheel on both full locks every thing seems to turn smoothly.
Is there some method for checking them, without removing the boot, that Im missing ?
    Many thanks in advance.

when is the noise there, when you are turning a corner and putting the foot down most cv's seem to make a noise when turning a corner when you checked them did you have the wheels straight or turned L/H or R/H lock??

I have a spare L/H cv axle in my garage (not that old was new after breaking old one then broke R/H) after fitting the ashcroft ones with the limited slip in the front seemed to break them plus a chipped and modded TD5 engine does not help the cause either
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

Sorry, do you mean, the LSD broke the old one, not the Ashcroft ones ?
Im thinking of getting the Ashcroft CV and axles.
Ive checked the CV's on both full locks, with no sounds.
I've gone back to thinking it must be the shocks. They have done 75,ooo+kms so might replace them anyway and see how it go's.
    Thanks for the reply.
