    Speedo drive gears

Does anyone know if the speedo drive gear assy from a LT230 can be used in a LT95?

I know that the shaft size is different between them, but it would seem that as long as you use the matching shaft/gear/carrier it will probably work.

Here's a couple of photos I took before I sold my old gearbox. Unfortunately I don't still have a LT230 gear here to measure properly or test with.

I'm fairly sure there are three types that are common to both transfers. The gear inside also varies.

    Thanks.
Already found out about the LT95 gear on the output shaft. Stage1's had a 12T gear, and rangies/110's had 10T

I've now put the 10T gear in mine with the original 20T plastic gear, but the speedo is still reading high - about 115k indicated at 100k's GPS

Looks like I need to find the steel barrel part and probably a black or yellow gear to go in it...

Steve, for an LT95 on a county you will need the 14 tooth blue gear but you also need the matching gear from the output shaft. there are several types for the different tyre sizes. RR's run a different gear and worm gear. I am away from home atm and can't check numbers etc for you but if you need I can upload a photo and part numbers on monday. The speedo drive setup is identical from LT95 and LT230.

    Thanks Brian.
Some part numbers and photos would definitely be helpful, and also if you've got a tooth count for gear on the output shaft.

I hadn't heard of a 14T gear. From what I could find out the LT230 blue ones were 20T...

Steve, You're spot on (plus my memory is getting worse). The tooth count is 20 for the blue gear (dunno where I got 14 from?). This is for LT95/LT230 in countys. The gearing is for the tyre size. Part numbers are FRC3310 for the driven gear and FRC3162 for the worm gear. Photos attached of County and RR types. You can notice there is some difference in the worm gear angle and the shaft diameter between the two.

    Thanks Brian.
How many teeth on each of the worm gears? RR should be 10 if my info is correct.
Edit - and is the diameter of the 2 worm gears the same?

Thanks. Cool here too - about 8 deg and dropping rapidly.
If you happen to find a spare set that you want to get rid of let me know.
Online pricing for that worm is over $100, and 50GBP from UK, so I'll be chasing a used one

If you have time take some pics of the job when you change the worm gear. I have to change mine too. The time it's been sitting on the shelf is getting embarrassing.
