I was at the dentist yesterday for a checkup (all good) and was sitting reading Modified 4WD issue 42, so I do not know the date.
Anyway in the "Ask Mark" section some one asks mark from Mark's Adaptors about gen111 into D1.
Mark answered that Marks has now available an offset starter and small flywheel for LR. I assume he is talking manual as well as adaptor plate.
He also spoke about VSS adaptor and looms, but said that they didn't have engine mount adaptors yet.
AFAIK you can use 350 chev mounts with a flat plate to bring the mount position back to the same as 350.

Unknown to seemingly everyone on the forum, it is now easily possible to fit a Gen111 to a D1,RRC etc.
Makes one think about whether to fit a Gen111 and manual rather than try to strengthen a ZF and rebuild RV8s.

That looks more like a 6HP60 than a 4HP22.

Should I have said ZF 4HP22 manually controlled 4 speed automatic transmission, which is too weak in standard form to accommodate the torque of a 5.7litre engine without modifications costing about 8 (eight) thousand Australian dollars.

Gen111=General Motors third generation V8 as fitted to Holden Commodore ,Camaro etc etc . Aluminium (or steel) block and weighs about the same as a Rover V8. comes in a variety of capacities from 5litres up, but generally known as a 5.7, 6.0 and6.2 litre in Australia.Actually I was unfamiliar with the GenIII and VSS loom terms but posted up the M113A2 image because I had it!
VSS =Vehicle Speed Sensor used by injection to cut off injectors on overrun, increase idle speed before coming to a halt, enabling cruise control, and lots of other goodies such as lean burn on cruise.

The New & Improved (Whiter-than-White) Gen III sounds really interesting... larger capacity with greater reliability / power can only be good.
- Certainly should be cheaper than re-building a LR V-8![]()
Interesting to hear that marks is now doing the smaller flywheels, 18 months ago when i spoke with them they were talking about doing a LR kit, after talking about how i couldnt fit the LS1 flywheel in to the LT95 bellhousing they said they could possibly make me a custom flywheel but at that stage i dont think they had even given any real thought and no doubt the price they would have been asking would have been out of my budget.
I also looked into options for fitting the R380 up to the LS1 but all accounts i heard were that it wouldnt handle the power and the LT95 was the only one that MIGHT handle it. I gave up and went with the nissan box adapted to the LT230, gearing wise its a good option but its one huge box and weighs alot more then an LT95. It will be interesting to see if anyone has any success running a LR box behind a LS1 with this kit and how long it lasts.....
