Thread: Injector Cleaner

I've used GP thinners to good effect. This was, of course, with the injectors out of the car- the stuff is lethal on o-rings or any other rubber bits.

If you are doing them out of the car, use an ultrasonic cleaner and any white spirit (shellite, meths, even turps, thinners, petrol all will work) but don't put the electrics under, mechanical injector nozzles are fine to just drop straight in (to keep the electrical connections out of the liquid, make a plastic holder or better still suspend them one or 2 at a time from a frame so the frame isn't touching the ultrasonic cleaner - the waves work better with less to clean). boiling water can also work but do it in some meths afterwards to get rid of the water.

Any ultrasonic will do, I have an old medical instrument one that is industrial rated and works a treat.

On the car, just use commercial cleaners available at any auto store.

When you look on some of the websites of the injector cleaners you might be able to find the msds (material safety data sheets) that should have by law what is in it how it should be used what safety gear ect
the most common ingredients are shellite ipa (isopropyl alcohol )not ethanol:and a oil to wash it down 2 stroke is fantastic and lubricates the fuel pump as well. I cant get cost effective maintenance info though.
Regular use in fuel and and bottle spraying in to the manifold to clean it up works well.
