i am feeling less dumb now
It is the Ashcroft Underdrive (reduction unit) that I have waited so long for amd taken so long to fit as I am the world's laziest man!
Charged the battery. I hopped into the County for my weekly trip to town, temperature 5C, turned the key, heater, then another turn - urr, urrr, urrrr.....
I then realised the GPS was on, and had been for a week. Started after a ten amp charge for fifteen minutes. Got into town half an hour later than planned.

Now John,,, how long have you lived in your town,,, or just outside it I guess,,,
Don't know how to get there yet, or your way around it that badly that you need a GPS,,,, or is that just to get around the farm,,, ;)
wow,,, just imagine having a farm that you needed a GPS to get around,,, haha, I guess we'd call it a station,,, how awesome :D
I don't usually need it for directions, but I do find it useful for predicting arrival time and also especially for adjusting speed to exactly the speed limit.
But in fact, I had used it to find an unfamiliar address last time I was in town, and forgot to switch it off.
The town has a population of over 40,000 and is an hour's drive away - while I know my usual haunts there, there is a lot of it I definitely do not know.
