Friday arvo, did an Oil and Filter change on the Disco.
Then today, decided to go for a little play down a rutted out laneway and managed to snap the LHS front axle! Got a bit of wheel spin on opposite corners, applied a little Left Foot brake to try get some traction and TINK... No more front drive.
Managed to sneak it home with the diff-lock in and spen the afternoon removing it.
Now on the lookout for a heavier duty replacement perhaps!
Took the SVX out for it's first fishing trip. Dumb truck, it really does need to learn how to back the boat and especially the empty trailer. The D2 could do it blindfolded.
Today's work was the completion of the installation of rear airsprings on my TD5 130 tray top. Quite an operation as I had to fabricate mounts to fit into the upper spring brackets. Using TimNZ's tutorial was very useful. The bolts holding the upper mounts into the chassis brackets were easy to install at the wheel side but a real pain to get the nuts on the bolts closest to the chassis. Got there eventually. The ride is good at low pressure and rough at higher pressures, as you would expect with no load on. Cheers, 130man.
Need to stay awake all night (from 6am this morning) for a sleep deprivation test tomorrow (at 11am!) so I should get something done tonight. I also need to sleep/wake up on command tomorrow, good luck with that.
While moving the latest acquisition about the back yard, I was trying to work out what this one should be called.
It is a series one 88" hard top with the Holden engine removed, It came from Stuart from Claremont, so a play with names, should it be called Stuart, Clare or Monty? Decisions decisions !!!! which name take a vote please people.

Fitted a new 100amp alternator two days ago to the Tdi as the old one died. (although it sort of started charging again for two days)
Of course, when the new one turned up it had the early (large) pulley and I gave away the long belt I used to have, so that had to be changed and I had to grind/butcher a big old ring spanner to get to the nut on the pulley on the original alt. (this was the second alternator sent, a 65amp one was sent first time around. Small assumption stuff up)
Of course the connector for the spotties came adrift during the re-installation and I didn't have a ring terminal big enough for the post.....
All sorted eventually, the entire job took way, way too long (If I was billing the time out there was no way I could've charged for it all) and I do have 14.65v into the batteries now and the alternator light has never gone out so quickly on startup.
All I need now is an 8mm wire back to the batteries (I think that's big enough ?) to replace the undersized Deefer one, and one of Traxide's cool, switchable battery isolators to replace the old Piranha one so I can lead/lag and parallel the batteries.
