Thread: 300tdi manual performance chip

Tdi's don't have computers, so no. You have play with it the old fashioned way, with spanners and screwdrivers.

There's a lot more driveability and usable torque to be had by tweaking the injector pump. Do a search on 300Tdi pump tweak. There is plenty of info on it.

There are some 300Tdi auto's floating around with EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) on the Bosch VE pump in lieu of an aneroid/boost compensator, so they can be 'chipped', but they are a pretty rare beast (in Australia) and I have a sneaking suspicion they were originally private imports.

Never heard of any manuals in the country, but there could be one or two privately imported.

The ones in NZ fitting that description are japanese imports.

I've "chipped" my work car myself (VP44 diesel), it's an enlightening way to burn several hundred hours of your spare time.

Fit an upgraded turbo, intercooler, EGT gauge and turn the fuel up. You'll be surprised how good a 300Tdi can go.

Murray, you have an Isuzu and a pretty well tweaked 300Tdi, which do you prefer
