Hi Scruffy, no expertise here but I wonder if you may have disturbed the earthing strap somehow? Can you add an extra temporary earth ,perhaps a jumper lead , from the engine to the battery and see if that makes the engine run?Cheers, 130man.
Day All, I must have forgotten to pay my electric bill because I now have no spark on my 93 D1 v8. I had to change the starter motor and disconnected the battery , neg first and then the positive terminal. Took battery out and put it on the charger. I then changed the starter motor over and after about another hour I reconnected the battery. Pos first then the neg. Motor turns over but no spark at the plugs. What could be wrong? Fuel pump is working..
Thanks Bob

Ignition amplifier is top of the list. Sometimes they just give up.
Thanks Langy, But I have installed the Bosch upgrade so unlikely in this case. Veh was working fine before hand, just no spark at the plugs now. Bob
Go to the coil, test for 12 volts when the ignition is on. You may have knocked a wire off somewhere. If everything is connected but no 12V is there an anti-theft device? Hot wire the coil to battery +ve to bypass any faults, see if you get spark then.
Hi Bee Utey, just checked the coil, 5.33v pos to neg sides of coil. Tried to start and presto, motor runs but now I have the ign lamp glowing. With the motor running the battery is showing 12.33v so I presume that somehow the alternator is not charging now. Must be something simple. Bob
P.S. just checked the coil again, ign on.....pos side of coil to earth shows 12.3v. Does this mean that it could be the ign amp??6

Just went out to try and solve the alternator light problem and the sparks have gone on holidays again. No startee again. B...er. Bob
Well, what do I say. Dr Lucas has been playing tricks on me again. I tried a different amplifier and still no starting. Replaced the wires back onto the bosch amp and hey presto, the beast fired up. Tried starting 8 times and it still started and ran fine. I will replace the amp anyway just to be sure of reliability. Still cant figure out why this happened after removing the battery and then connecting it up again though. Thanks to all who helped. Bob
When it stops again:
To see 5.3 volts across the coil (+ to -) there would be a strong current flowing through it. Either the coil negative side wiring or amp might be causing this. Disconnect the negative post wires one by one, see which one is carrying the current. If you have gas look at the wire that connects from the coil negative to the gas cut-out. If you do get this situation again the voltage from coil (+) to chassis (-) should be above 11 volts at the same time. Odd. At least its going now.
