    6x6 diff

Hi all. I've got a 6x6 defender with a chain driven middle diff and am wondering if anyone knows anything about them.

    Yes I'd be interested too!

Do you know which of the numerous builders made the vehicle? That will help on what sort of system it uses.

Usually the chain drive is to the drop box for the third diff.

Does it have Salisbury diffs, Rover diffs or a combination.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Geelong Differentials in Victoria did 6x6 conversions with multilink gear chain drive drop boxes on the forward rear axle. I believe 6x6 Australia also use pinion mounted chaindrive drop boxes for their conversions. The chains and sprockets on these are prone to wear and stretch so require periodic replacement. Not sure whether the British Foley Special Vehicles drop box uses chains or helical gears. This may be what the OPs defender has .
