Of the two vehicles, would one have been a six cylinder and the other a 4 cylinder?
That's the most logical answer- since the 6 is a longer engine, the gearbox/TC is set back a couple of inches = shorter propshaft. Different engine mounts, same gearbox mount, adaptor plate bolts onto the gearbox in the 6.
The changes with the springs under load is reflected in the sliding joint of the propshaft.
