Thread: Are these parts correct for a 1997 300Tdi (Disco)?

This thing is mainly a commuter, so for >GBP200 difference I am happy to keep the head stock. I will give the pump a mild tweak though.

Don't worry about the P gasket. I did mine about 3 years ago and just used silicone, and it was just plain plumbers roof and gutter, not the fancy stuff that the auto shops sell.

I have done this many times with thermostat housings, water pumps and many gearbox/transfer case overhauls and never had a leak. Recently overhauled the Salisbury diff in my sons Falcon and just stuck the cover back on with silicone, no leaks.

People unnecessarily waste a lot of money and time on gaskets when silicon will do the job, often better.
