Black Bettys turn for the Amigoes

My turn to deal with the amigoes,I have a mixed bunch!!!!!
Last week in the city, got the 2 chimes,HDC,ABS and TC on.Get an amber traffic light only one front brake worked in the wet,no hope of stopping, went thru as the light changed to red.
Pulled over as soon as safe, used Nanocom, intermittent shuttle valve power failure X 254.Re-set brakes all good and ABS working in wet.500m down the road,2 chimes,ABS and TC on again(no HDC),only one front brake working(skiding left front in the wet).Pulled over, this time Shuttle valve power failure LOGGED, X254.Surely too soon after a wipe.Cleared, all good.Drove home 180ks,all good.
TODAY,did some fuel system maintence, then a test drive.
Got the 2 chimes again,ABS and TC only.Nanocomed,NO FAULTS,cleared.ABS ONLY light remained on,went off after reaching 20kmh(like a Xtreme Defender) Then shortly after 2 chimes ABS and TC lights.A key off re-start looses the TC light,ABS stays on until 20KPH.Nanocom says no faults, brakes seem to be working OK(dry roads).

Spoke to a fellow D2 owner who has done the modulator by-pass wiring.Ive got the US website DIY guide.Happy to do this and put a shuttle valve kit in whilst Im at it.

Is this likely to be my issue or is there something more sinister going on.The fact that I seemed to only have 1 front brake in the wet was a worry!!!,TC was out of action too,wet greasy roads + ECU upgrade + big intercooler = no traction at all, wheelspin under light throttle
    Thanks

Just been out road testing again.
WHILST COLD,plenty of 2 and 3 amigoes, mostly with no fault registered.
3 amigoes clears to 2 amigoes(ABS+TC),leaving just the ABS that clears after 10kph.
The only fault registered was right front output(intermittent) 000 times.Got this and cleared 3 times.
Gave both the ABS and TC a good workout on a slushy wet gravel road, all is working well with no amigoes,2 amigoes and 3 amigoes.
Even did HDC wich was ok.
After everything was hot,no more issues, which points to a dry joint somewhere.
    Ideas????

    Hi Andy.

Any brake squeel ... even minor ?

I get Amigoes sometimes, and it's usually brake squeel driven ... all clears on a re-start, just like yours, but may not come back for months, weeks, or may come back later same day

Generally, if I check for faults with the Nanocom, there's none ... what's wrong with that ! ?

Occaisionally there will be a fault, as you have described ... "intermittant" ... clear it and all is good.

Just to add insult to the confussion, in the 2 yrs I've owned the D2, the "intermittant" fault has progressivley moved from the front left hand wheel, to the front right hand wheel, to the back right hand wheel ....

I'm over worrying about it as a genuine problem ... it's a bug in the software/logic/system that drives the SLABS ECU ... in the music business, we call that an "undocumented Feature"

Brake squeel !! .... or, the only other thing I have read online that's a distinct possibility is a break of the copper conductor inside its insulation. The two ends of the break generally make a connection, but vibrations can make the contacting ends rub, sending a dirty/intermittant signal to the SLABS ECU.

    ... and that's all I've got.

    Thanks Kev.
    No Squeal at all.
Have ordered a WABCO shuttle valve repair kit from Ebay,$88.00 delivered which I thought was fair.
Will fit it and do the full Nanocom flush. If it doesnt fix it I will to the bypass wiring, hesitant to do this just incase of insurance problems into the future, even though its no different than how the factory system works.
Thanks LoveMyRangie Andrew for the phonecall about this and my priming issues.

This fault didn't begin after you cleaned out the fuel system air bleed filter did it?
The connector for the right rear ABS wheel sensor is right near where you were working. Perhaps it copped a nudge or bit of diesel has got into it ...

    Just a thought ...

This Amigoes bussiness let some more secrets out today.
Lots of just ABS,ABS/TC,and ABS/TC/HDC.Didnt stop returning fault lights and chimes until 2 hours of driving, then nothing for the next 3 hours until I got home.
Got a couple of extras on top on the usual right front sensor output 000times.
Today I got Shuttle Valve switch electrical failure 254 times,at least 3 times, and right front sensor power failure 254 times several times.
What interests me,some of these 254 times faults came up straight after a fault code swipe, the vehicle only had moved 100m or less.
Have a shuttle valve kit on its way and picked up 4lts of brakefluid today.
This weekends job if the shuttle valve kit arrives in time.

Im putting my money on a sticking shuttle valve.
The 3 Boys have been popping up once a day lately. Hoping a change of break fluid will fix it as it did last time. For about 40 000ks.

I'm thinking I need lockers on all diff's. Ive had the TC shut down a number of times out bush, much to my embarrassment. When its working its great, but .....

Had similar until brake fluid change and now all seems better. Drover 1500kms without any faults being logged (now in Denham).
My brakes are squealing though after replacing pads. Not very happy with the loud squealing from the Mintex pads, may go back to Bendix if I can get some in Geraldton.

    Problem sorted
Fitted new shuttle valve kit today.
Also fitted new pads all around as rears were almost cactus, fronts 2/3 gone.
    Full fluid change.
    No more 3 amigos.
Pads were Transgold Kevlar from British 4WD in Tassie.
Old BlackBetty stops really well now,not that her brakes were lacking before.Im not a on the brakes driver.
    Really happy with the result
