TD5 Defa ECU - inspection for oil.

    Hi All.

I have replaced the injector harness and am in the process of cleaning the engine harness and ECU.
How do I get the ECU cover off to check for oil, as there is oil on its red connector and pins? The aluminium cover appears to be bonded by a rubber seal onto the die-cast case.
Has anyone had the ECU apart to check / clean it?

    Any and all answers appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Daryl.

Darryl, no need to worry about the insides, only the pins etc and plug/s cause the issues when they are covered in oil.

    Thanks fellas.

That's prolly why I couldn't find it with the search engine.
So, looks like a spray of the socket with contact cleaner is the go then.
And I dare say a check of the plug every few weeks, after the initial clean.

    Again, Thanks,
    Daryl.

    What the guru's said
The little white pin cover can be removed from the red plug and makes it easier to clean.

I have had the cover off my ECU in the Disco but no oil in it, due to the mud
Cleaned with CRC contact spray and resealed the cover with high temp sensor safe red salastic.
    Cheers, Kyle

Yeah, couldn't believe the quantity of oil behind the white pin guide!

    Thanks,
    Daryl.
