    Selectro free wheel hubs

Does anyone know of a source of spare parts for these? I have a set in both of which the "cam ring" (for want of a better decription) is broken. They're made of pot metal so I can't figure a way to repair them.

Remove them and fit the original drive flanges.

Freewheel hubs are over rated in their abilities to reduce fuel consumption and make for lighter steering. They also have side effects that leads to uneven wear, lack of lubrication and potential damage to the front drive train.

Do a search on FWHs here and on the internet.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

In my experience, they have only two advantages - enable you to use low range as a creeper gear on hard surfaces without windup, and allow you to put off replacing a dodgy front prop shaft by only spinning it at low speeds.

I have them fitted to the 2a, and last year I did the trip to Sydney one way with them engaged, the other with them disengaged - the difference was not perceptible in either handling, noise, or fuel consumption. They stay engaged about 90% of the time.

Do you have alloy bodied Selectros, or the earlier bulletproof case hardened steel bodied ones?If the latter it's worth getting a friendly machine shop to make you a pair of steel cam rings.
If you have alloy ones, probably take Dianes advice.
