Apart from the slightly heavier viscosity, and an xW-30 would be fine, the xW-40 oils are heavy duty diesel oils so the additive package is more robust.

The Euro Energy 5W-30 is aimed at and specced for and blended to suit passenger car diesels and yes, although the Td5 (and Tdi) are light commercial engines I'd rather have the much more robust add package used for the big engines protecting a very hard working little engine.

I'd avoid their hydraulic oils though. Seen may issues in systems with it not blending with other residues.

As Im going to be spending most of my time touring in hotter temps, and no cold temps (Vic Alps) I'll be getting the 10w40 , but hypothetically what about lower spec 5w-30 syn with some extra ZDDP thrown in , which I've been adding to my current oil, or is that not a good idea ?
