    V8 Over Revving??

    Hi,

My V8 is over revving - and when approaching a corner for instance, and taking ones foot off the accelerator, the engine seem to take an age of cut back the revs, and invariably heavy breaking is required to slow to get around the corner.

Any suggestions to rectify this issue??

    Thanks

    Regards

Have a look at the temperature sender for the ECU. If this has failed, the ECU may think the engine is running cold and fueling accordingly? Or the Idle Speed Control maybe stuck open bypassing excess air and increrasing the idle speed??

most likely the IAC or a sticking throttle body.

of course you could just wing it the other way, turn it in harder and feed it a bit more...

If it's a Lucus14 ECU I had a similar problem on my old Discovery. Turned out the stepper motor needed cleaning. It's located at the rear of the plenum (firewall end). I took it out and gave it a good clean with some Carby cleaner.
