Look at some of the broken pieces that simon is holding, go full screen and note when they dismantle the broken locker. Can you imagine if you put forged finished sun gears (as shown) without being machined into a diff hemisphere and tried to mesh them together, you would certainly need some miraculous oil to stop them being chewed out in one trip around the block.
I have nothing against ARB, I have 2 in my Disco, but I don't like it when some arsehole tries to dupe me, Regards Frank.

Why do you think the Chinese things are OK? I would put forward that it is because of the design reputation of ARB.

Chinese ascribe no value to intellectual property and will copy anything they can get away with. When a Trade Commissioner in Asia I used to try and advise Australian companies that they would not succeed with simple products as the product would be copied within minutes. I use to have them articulate to me what their USP was and what in their product could prevent /delay copying.

Australia shoulds have strong intellectual property legislation and seize these things at the borders.

AFAIK the chinese companies are copying the old (3-piece) ARB locker design, for which the patent(s) have expired.

However they do also appear to also be copying the ARB installation instructions and packaging, so are likely breaching trademark and copyright...

However on the IP issue, they are not doing anything that companies in Europe or the USA aren't doing.

maybe not stock, but there is no reason the diff cant see that kind of force in real world driving.......

I know for a fact the gears for a ARB locker are cut in Victoria and not China.
