Seriously, from what you say, the alarm system is transmitting, interrogating the fobs / trying to find them... and blanking out / overloading the shed door and gate receivers and your phone as well.

- Reckon you sacrificed the wrong breed of chicken when you replaced the battery(s)

I read the entrails (Handbook) when I did mine...then carefully put both Alarm Remotes in my top drawer...and use the key to lock my Classic. - Fed up with the alarm going off from the resident redback moving about at night...


To verify the theory, - READ THE HANDBOOK FIRST - assuming its safe to do so.... put the Disco in the shed with the non-working doors... disconnect the car battery..then give it 5 to 15 minutes to be sure...and operate your shed door / check your phone.

Just to add a bit more.
Did lock car with key in drivers door BUT when I unlocked the disco all hell broke loose.
After disconnecting the front horns(a bit noisy ) and using two keys got ignition on but of course no start.
Nanocom will not talk to bcu when armed so no way of getting the eka from bcu.
Aphone call later and eka used all back to normal(almost).
Now fobs dont work,fails rf test reentered keys in bcu .
Doors and phones cactus .

I think you may be on to something with the alarm transmitting,but does the bcu use the receiver to transmit also.?? If so maybe receiver is ok.
11years old and first cockup with alarm

Can I bypass the rf side and just use key till I get back.
At the moment if I use key eka Must be used to get car going againbtw,the first # is 14 so it takes a while to enter(get so funny looks in the car parks)

Got me stumped too.

Lets try a ridiculous Conspiracy Theroy and suggest the Axis of Evil has put a tracking device under your car...which is transmitting your location to the Men In Black..and upsetting your garage door, gate and phone in the meantime. - Noticed any vans with blacked out windows parked near you ?

Or crawl under the car.

The 'Technical' way is to visit your local 2-way radio repairman, and ask him to wander around your bus with a Field Strength Meter tuned to the right frequency, or thereabouts. - Clue is the door-remote system, take them along so he can check. Or a Car Alarm specialist.

To be honest, I can't see why the car alarm would be transmitting..... Or how, did'nt think they could.

According to my ('95 Classic) handbook, when changing the fob battery, the button must be pressed for 10 seconds AFTER the old battery is removed.
MIne sends a new code every time its used, which means if I use it out of range of the car, they lose synch and they don't know each other..

This can also happen if the battery dies in mid-cycle.

- Fixed by getting close again and pressing the button 3 times within 8 seconds. Disconnecting the car battery loses synch with both fobs, probably the same with yours...

The Disco I is differant, so your Disco II would be differant again. The RAVE manual gives a bit more detail than the Owners Handbook, and on the Disco I the alarm ECU sends a 'lock' (immobilise engine) signal to the engine ECU, and also an 'unlock' signal. If either signal is mis ing then chances are "everything'' gets its knickers in a knot (Technical term)

Disconnecting the car battery will lose synch with all fobs.

Have you got a RAVE for yours model? - Mine only covers Classic and Disco I. ('96 I think)

Might change receiver and hope the black van nicks off.

Does this problem happen when you are parked elsewhere, e.g. at work place? There must be a radio emitting device causing issues with the remote unlocking.

Yep,and just for good luck it also spooks other alarms.
Was in toowoomba on weekend and checked out opal show at a local school.When I returned to disco a bmw beside me would not open with his fob. Got mate to move disco and asked Mr bmw owner what the problem was.
He give me a strange look and said car service is on way .
Ok says I ,let me see your keys.
Tapped the back wheel (closest) turned around twice and pressed fob.Bugga me if the beema didnt open,handed him the keys and walked off.

Would have loved to have been there when he tried to explain to the service bloke how I fixed it.

Back to real world ,going to change receiver this week and hopefully all will be quite again.
ps ,changed the eka to a MUCH shorter code.You sure get some funny looks standing next to car turning key left and right like a madman.

- You did'nt mention the GPS going off the boil as well..... = THAT is one very stuffed "receiver" to be doing what it was. !
