when i was 24 i used to drive a butter box (1972 IH C1900 8 wheeler) with twin sticks, main box on the left and joey on the right, some veteran Mack drivers scratched their head and questioned how the hell do you drive it?
    embarrasing
thats apart from them asking how the hell do you back a dog trailer?

Talked again with the guy at MTQ.
Told me that the turbo was possibly mis-matched to the motor & or exhaust.
He had previously made mention of this but as sufficient power increases had been made , I was'nt too fussed it was at the top end, at that stage.
His suggestion was to fit a garrett at around 4G fitted.
    Thats not gunna happen.
Anyhow, who else has dyno'ed their 300 tdi & what figures did they get?
    Just like a comparo.
    Cheers Dean.

    What ?

    It's a TD-04, isn't it Dean ?

JC has been using those kits for yonks and really likes them and part of the selling point from MTQ was the much better bottom end compared to the OE Garrett.

Dean,my stock Tdi,no adjustments from factory running D/Gas was putting out 53Kw's or something like that when I dynoed it 3 years ago,it had done over 400,000k's at that time and it was run in 4th with 255/85/16's. Pat

    Yes Rick, TD-04.
    Thanx 4 the comparo guys.
Little dissapointing to have an up graded turbo & larger exhaust, yet about 20
    % less power than stock.
    Cheers Dean.

I dont really know much, but since you have changed the dynamics of the engine (with the turbo and exhaust) does it also need a change in fuel to be optimal??? ie will it provide better power if you tune the fuel, more so than a stock engine with the fuel tuned???

I had a feeling something wasn't right with your engine from your first post.I've towed lots of things with mine over the years and yes it's slow when loaded but I can't remember having to use low range on the road as a matter of course.A mate of mine had a very neat 3.3TD Patrol and my Tdi towed the same load over the same road with less fuss. Pat, when towing horses I always had to use low/second when starting with the 130.

That was back in the days of 235/85's and stock fueling, but I could struggle to maintain 100km/h on the highway sometimes back then too.
