    Best Ignition Live Wire

Have just fitted twin thermo fans to the Defender. Currently I have the thermal switch hooked up to accessory ignition wire and runs fine, but means the fans will stay on when accessories switch is on until the temp cools below the set point. Does anyone know of a good full ignition source wire that could be used either under the bonnet or in cab?
    Cheers

Problem is without an electric water pump your only cooling whats in the radiator arent you?

I have persevered with my thermos on an ignition wire.

The connection on the alternator to the ign light on the dash is ideal. The ign light is illuminated when no voltage is present, as the ign lamp is earthed via this connection. When the alt produces voltage at this terminal the light ceases, this terminal is now 12 volt which you can energize a small relay. This relay can in turn switch another relay for one or 2 fans or your thermo switch.
This way the fans cannot run or start until the engine is running.
This works I have used this method many times, just not on a LR

That was my thoughts, not a lot of benefit in running it after the engine is shut off.
But hey if there is some benefit I may be converted.
