Tyre Profiles
Hi everyone.
I just upgraded to a Disco II Classic 2004 Town. It comes with new tyres 255-55-18. These are low profile compared to my previous 235-75-16. Because of the low profile nature of these tyres I am keen to seek advice as to what I should look out for when off-road (mostly on the beach and tracks in). Do I deflate to normal levels (I use 18 to start)? Are these low profile tyres really suitable for off-road?
Cheers,

I'm running the same sizes on mine. For bush tracks (rocks, roots, etc), I usually go to 22psi front; 27psi rear. On the sand, it's 16psi both ends.
I've never had any dramas and have done quite a lot of off roading, especially in the Brindabellas near Canberra and there are a lot of sharp rocks there.
The only real consideration is to be careful not to hit anything too fast as there's very little sidewall to protect the rims. Other than than, the lower air volume means very quick air up/down. Handling is great on tar too.

Thanks Bidds
I agree that on tar these tyres are great! I also concur with the fast inflation compared to my old tyres. I'll be carefull on the raods in and out.....
