    Question 2001 disco2 td5 power stearing probs

mates got a 2001 disco2 td5 and in the last week stearing has become very hard to turn and uneven. ie gets easier, then harder, repeat 4-5times on full lock to lock. checked power stearing fluid etc all ok no faults coming up in the nanocom 1. any ideas what prob might be. im thinking power stearing pump or stearing box but both pricey bits to buy just to see if its fixes the prob. any ideas on diagnosing fault or fixing it. need help bigtime!! thanks

One of the universal joints in the steering box-to-column shaft has probably seized.

Check the small universal on the input shaft to the box from the column.
Yanakee(spelling) started a post not long ago, maybe in the Discovery2 area.
He ended up changing this joint.

Normilly I'd search and link it for you but I'm having dramas loading pages at the moment.
Search for his posts and you should find it.
    Cheers, Kyle

Thumbs up update on steering fault/faults

update on steering probs checked all the uni joints you guys were talking about. no better if anything worse to the point we struggles to make it back to mates place. next day, pulled airbag modual out of steering wheel (part of the clips on the 2pin plug are stuck in airbag module.any ideas?) undid nut and pulled steering wheel off rotory coupler was to blame. tape was split and moved by about 1in1/2. left that and airbag unit out at mo and steering is 110%. anyone else had trouble with their rotory coupler
