    2005 Td5 Turbo Bearing Noise?

I have an 05 Td5 Defender, after switching the ignition of the is a whirring noise coming from around the turbo for about 5-10 seconds, is this a worn bearing or is it normal??? Is it the compressor wheel slowing to a stop?
    Cheers.

It's most probably the centrifugal filter spinning down. Mine whirrs away for 15-20 seconds after the motor shuts off.

Cheers Guys, just bought the bus and I was starting to peak out thinking I was up for a new turbo, I've already got to repair the Fuel pressuse regulator.

Bizarre that there was a thread on the centrifuge rotor...

Yesterday I went to replace the rotor, as well as a few other routine maintenance items, when I discovered one of the bolts holding the centrifuge cover on had been nicely rounded by a previous owner or mechanic...

I managed to get him out with the trusty vice grips, but now have to get a replacement bolt.

I plan to stop at a fastener shop on the way home, but not sure how I'll go... has anybody had to buy one of these before...?

(trying to attach image below - it's a 10mm hex head bolt, 25.5mm long, half of the shaft is smooth (5mm diameter), the other half is threaded...)

Also be aware some of the nastier aftermarket filters are the wrong size and do not spin, so dont do anything or worse score out the housing. The filter needs to spin to do its job. I have found genuine LR or Mann Hummel are the best. If you dont hear it spin down that is when you investigate.
