Starter problems result of bog hole problems?

    Hi,

I am having trouble with my 3.9efi V8 90. When I turn the key there is a click from the starter motor (doesn’t turn over) and another when I turn the back.

My guess is there is cr@p in the starter motor/solonoid. The day before this problem first happened I got kind of stuck in a bog hole where the starter would have been submerged in muddy water (and I did get out and wade it first I just missed a log lying at one side).

Am I correct in thinking it is a case of cleaning and greasing the solenoid and starter and I should be good to go?

Any tips/tricks for doing this? Do I need to remove it from the engine first? Where should I be focusing my attention and what should i be looking out for?

    Thanks for your help,

    Dave

pull it out, take pics, strip it down taking pics as you go, you'll see where the grease needs to go. Dont get it on the contacts, use a fine smear of electrical grease on those.
