G'day Chris see my post That was my box they did, they installed V12 components cost me $5000 they rebuilt my first one for $3000 which melted all the clutch packs and destroyed the planetary gears (was not happy) so I went back to them and complained cause I had only done 10,000ks $8000 (long story) later I have a box that has been thrashed 90% off road work 30,000ks and it still shifts as smooth as the day I picked it up even though it cost me a fortune I am extremly happy with this box

Not worth the expense, to behonest, you need to adapt a GM trans I think

None the less, these are the dudes, Manuel Automatics Pty Ltd - Transmissions - Car - Thomastown, VIC - Yellow PagesĀ®

I spoke again not long ago, as when I sort the LS1 into P38 I thought of useing the HP24,

"How does a built 24 vs a built 4L60E go?"

"Mate build the GM trans, couple of grand and good for more HP than most run on the street, compared to lots of grands for something that will sustain alot less HP, the ZF's just don't compare"

Oh, what I put above isn't what I've used! its what would work for you

For the P38, I'll be useing a 4L60E and machining a transfer case adaptor, it keeps slipping down the list though

T400 is ok, strong as, but not a good 1st gear ratio, nor an overdrive

thanks guys for the price of doing the zf i think i might be better buying a turbo 400 reconditioned heavduty with a stage 3 shift kit in it i can get one $2250 and then just find the right transfer to put behind it.

Is there a part time conversion transfer that i could use?

    Thanks

200kw will be fun and you've had the right recommendations above..

But remember... Offroad.... HP wont win comps - Smart Driving and a Great Navi will....
